Who was”Jack the Ripper”?

To this day, 100 years after the assassinations, “Jack the Ripper” fascinated the people and embossed the media. It seems, the killer can not be forgotten…but who was this mysterious person?

There exist hundreds of theories, who exactly “The Ripper” was.No reliable theory regarding the reason for the murders exists which makes it even harder to find out about this person.

One definite fact is:the person must have had a huge knowledge concerning the anatomy of the human body.

->Once he removed a kidney from the front rather than from the side and many times he removed sexual organs with clean strokes of his knife without damaging surrounding organs. There was not much time for him to do the process,he had tight time constraints as there could have been somebody, walking down the street, catching out the murder at any time. This leads to the supposition that he definitely must have had experience in using his knife.

Most of the suspects were educated men because only high classed people were able to have a knowledge of medicine.Even the royal family was taken into account to be involved in the assassinations.

->There is a theory(as seen in the movie “From Hell”), saying the murders were done to suppress the relationship in between the prince and a prostitute.

The jewish population was blamed later on, too.

->A few steps from a murdered victim in Goulston Street, there was a writing, saying ” The Juwes Are The Men That Will Not Be Blamed For Nothing”.As there exists a Jewish story, mentioning the word “Juwes” instead of “Jews”, it lead to the supposition of “The Ripper” being a Jew.There are a lot of discussions about the exact meaning of this graffity. Many people say, it didn’t even have anything to do with the killer.

Many theories were made by Inspector Abberline(1843-1929) [shown in the picture on the right side], a Chief Inspector for the London Metropolitan Police. He was well known for handling“The Ripper”case.

Was “The Ripper” even a man?

It is not sure, whether “The Ripper” was only one man or a group of people.E.g. there were two murders happening at one day,at very close times. This could have been done easily by more than one person but it would have been harder for only one man.

Inspector Abberline assembled the theory, that the murderer could have been a woman, too.The police believed, that if a woman would have been the killer, she would have been a midwife or an abortionist because of the anatomically education and other reasons, such as that a midwife would be capable to walk through the streets at any day time, even blood on her dress would have been discarded as a result of her work. The police called this suspect “Jill the Ripper”. Most of the points, concerning this theory are rated to be weak arguments but the suspect can not be excluded due to no exact knowledge about the murderer.
