Film:”From Hell”

The film “From Hell” deals with the topic of “Jack the Ripper”.The story plays in 1888 and takes place in London in the district of  Whitechapel. Aside from the murderer, the main characters of the movie are Inspector Abberline and Mary Ann, a prostitute which lives together with four other prostitutes.

The murders of the five women happen and Abberline is supposed to solve the mystery of their executor “Jack the Ripper”.During the events, the Inspector falls in love with Mary Ann which causes a lot of dramatic.

Eventually, the crime is solved and the royal family plays an important role in it.

All in all I think that the film is nicely made. The way London is presented is old fashioned and dark. It suits exactly to the imagination of the low and high classed London in the 18th Century.The actors did a good job, they fit in their roles.Also, the theory of “Jack the Ripper” is an interesting one.I think the solution shows again how unjustly the high classed people acted(or still do act) with the low classed population.
